Garlic bread recipe | Homemade Garlic Bread | Cheesy Garlic Bread

Garlic bread is one of the kids favorite recipe next to Pizza. They are quite common to have as side for Pizza. They are also popular in Dominos restaurant which is well known for their Pizzas. This is my first attempt of homemade Garlic Bread.

Everyone liked it in our house especially my kids. This recipe is made with All purpose flour. I thought of making it with whole wheat flour. But since it was my first attempt, decided to make it with half wheat and half Maida.

There is no compromise in taste. The Hero of the recipe is the Cheese. So be generous in adding Cheese. The final taste comes from the amount of cheese we use. You may use Mozzarella in grated form. This cheese gives the expandable texture as in restaurants.

The recipe is so simple. Only the dough proofing time requires some time. Other than that, the baking time is around 12 mins. So let’s see this recipe in detail.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup All purpose flour / Maida
  • 1 cup Whole wheat flour
  • 2 tbsp Oil
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 3 tbsp Butter (room temperature)
  • 2 tsp Grated Garlic
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Oregano
  • 1/4 tsp Pepper powder
  • 1 cup Grated Mozzarella cheese

For yeast activation,

  • 1 tsp Sugar
  • 3/4 cup Warm water
  • 1 tbsp Active dry yeast

Instructions 

For Yeast activation,

  • Add sugar to a bowl.
  • Add warm water and yeast.
  • Stir and keep covered till the yeast is activated.
  • In a mixing bowl, add wheat flour.
  • Add Maida.
  • Add salt and oil.
  • Add the yeast water and knead to dough.
  • After allowing it to proof for 3 hours, the dough has increased in size.
  • Prepare the garlic butter mixture. Add softened butter and grated garlic and mix them.
  • Roll the dough to slight thick.
  • Place to the baking pan.
  • Spread the garlic butter mixture.
  • Top with the grated cheese.
  • Sprinkle some chilli flakes, oregano, pepper and salt.
  • Preheat the OTG to 180 C / 380 F, bake for 12 mins.
  • Cut and serve hot.

Notes

  • Adding Mozzarella cheese gives the gooey texture as in restaurants.
  • You may prepare with full All purpose flour to make the dough.
  • You can use either instant yeast or active dry yeast.
  • Activating yeast takes upto 10 mins to activate completely.
