Now I’m sharing a super dieali recipe which is Thattai. Thattai is one of the favourite snack for many to munch on. But the making process is a bit tricky.

Ingredients

  • 2 cup Rice flour
  • 1/2 cup Gram flour
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 spoon White Sesame seeds
  • 8 Red chillies
  • 1 spoon Saunf/ Sombu
  • 1 spoon Asafoetida
  • 1/2 spoon Turmeric powder
  • 10 Garlic crushed
  • 50 gms Butter
  • 2 spoon Chana dal
  • Water for kneading
  • Oil for frying

Instructions 

  • Take rice flour in a wide vessel
  • Add Gram flour
  • Mix them
  • Soak chana dal for 30 mins to 1 hr.
  • Also soak red chillies, saunf. I missed the pic.
  • Add salt
  • Add sesame seeds
  • Grind red chillies and sombu and add it
  • Add asafoetida
  • Add turmeric powder
  • Add crushed garlic
  • Add butter
  • Add soaked chana dal
  • Add water and knead
  • Divide the dough into small balls
  • Take a greased plastic sheet and start making circles by pressing the dough slightly.
  • Drop in hot oil
  • Turn over and cook

  • Once the color is brown, remove in a newspaper

Notes

  • For making thattai, always use ratio 4:1 i.e rice flour : Gram flour
  • Butter can be replaced with hot oil.
