Green moong dal is one of the dal variety that is so healthy for toddlers and kids. Instead of giving this as plain cooked bean, we can try this simple cutlet / patty recipe. This recipe require only very little ingredients to make.

This cutlets can be prepared in advance and can be freezed and can be used when required. This stays good for a week in the freezer. Boil the potatoes and keep. Meanwhile cook the green moong bean separately and save it. Now moving to the recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 no. Potatoes boiled
  • 1/2 cup Green moong bean / Pachai payaru boiled
  • 1/2 no. Onion chopped
  • handful Coriander leaves
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli powder
  • 1/2 tsp Jeera powder
  • 1/4 tsp Chaat masala (optional)
  • 2 tbsp Rice flour
  • Salt required
  • 1/2 cup Bread crumbs for coating
  • 2 tbsp Oil

Instructions 

  • Mash the boiled potatoes and green moong bean in a bowl.
  • Add onions and coriander leaves.
  • Add the spice powders.
  • Add the rice flour and a spoon of bread crumbs for binding.
  • Make a dough by mixing all the ingredients.
  • Make patties out of the dough.
  • Coat the patties with the bread crumbs.
  • Heat oil to a tawa, add the patties and cook in low flame for 3 mins until the bottom is slight brown.
  • Flip and cook the other side.
  • Serve hot with ketchup.

Notes

  • Adjust the spice level according to your taste.
  • Adding rice flour gives binding. So adjust the amount used.
  • You may add chopped spinach to this for additional nutrition.
  • Coating with breadcrumbs gives crispy outside texture.
