Here is another healthy lunch recipe for your babies. This recipe calls for very simple ingredients and can be prepared in 20 minutes. Beetroot can be introduced from 8 months to babies. When the baby is reached 10 months, you can offer combination of foods so they get used to differer taste and texture.
Beetroot is rich in folate and they are full of nutrients and fiber. So they are easily digestible for babies. Try to include beets atleast once a week in your babies diet. By doing so, it helps to avoid anemia in babies. And also improves baby skin complexion.
Spinach is also good for boosting immune system in babies and they are rich in iron and vitamin C.This recipe is a super iron rich recipe. I have shared a small tip at the end of the blog.
Beetroot Spinach rice for babies
Ingredients
- 2 tbsp Rice
- 1 tbsp Yellow Moong dal
- 1 tsp Butter
- 10 no. Cumin seeds
- A pinch Asafoetida
- 1/2 tsp Onion chopped
- 1/4 tsp Tomato chopped
- 1 clove Garlic
- Small piece Beetroot grated
- 10 no. Spinach leaves chopped
- 1/4 tsp Pepper and jeera powder
- 1 cup Water
- Few drops Lemon juice
- Salt required
Instructions
- Wash and soak rice and dal.
- In a pressure cooker,add butter, galic, onion. toamtoes and saute.
- Add grated beetroot.
- Add chopped spinach.
- Add asafoetida.
- Add pepper and jeera powder and salt.
- Add rice and dal along with water.
- Cook for 8-10 whistles in medium flame.
- Mash the cooked rice with masher.
- Finally add few drops of lemon juice.
- Serve warm.
Notes
- Adding lemon juice at the final stage is for easier iron absorption from beets and spinach. So a simple tip is add lemon juice to all the spinach recipes that you prepare for baby.
- You can add ghee in place of butter.
