Nombu Kanji is one of the porridge recipe mainly prepared by Muslims during their Fasting months. They usually break the fasting with this Kanji or porridge. This porridge is prepared with mutton keema. But I have used only vegetables in this recipe and made veg version.
This porridge is so filling and also healthy during fasting times. I have used moong dal along with rice to make the porridge. But you may use Chana dal too. You may try the same recipe with mutton keema for the authentic recipe.
This recipe is one of my kids favorite. We usually prepare this at least once in 2 weeks. This porridge is one of the simple lunch menu in our house. Somedays, I even prepare this for breakfast if we want light breakfast but at the same time an healthy option.
If having for lunch, we will have with plain boiled egg. But you may have with papad or any non veg gravy too. The recipe can be prepared as one pot in cooker and takes around 30 minutes to prepare.
