Healthy Pumpkin Khichdi for 7+ months babies

Khichdi is a complete wholesome food that is basically a mixture of dals/lentils,rice and vegetables of your choice.

It is a best lunch recipe for babies,with vital vitamins and nutrients.

So here I will share the pumpkin khichdi which is very tasty 😍 and healthy.

Pumpkin is a Beta- carotene rich fruit.This Beta-Carotene is healthy for heart and reduce the risk of cancer and it is an anti-oxidant.

When pumpkin is digested,the Beta-Carotene turns into vitamin A.Don’t you think this is magical?😉

Pumpkins are rich in calcium and magnesium,fibre which aids in easy digestion.

Pumpkins are very good immunity booster for babies.

Pumpkin Khichdi / Pumpkin Moong dal Khichdi

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon of rice
  • 1 tablespoon of moong dal
  • 1/4 cup of pumpkin
  • 1 cup of water
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cumin and pepper powder
  • 1 tbsp garlic chopped
  • 1 tbsp onion chopped
  • 1 tbsp tomato
  • 1/4 spoon asafoetida powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 spoon ghee

Instructions 

  • Wash the rice and dal and soak for 10-15 mins.
  • Chop all the ingredients and keep ready.
  • Add all the ingredients in a pressure cooker except salt and ghee and cook for 5 whistles in medium flame.
  • Once pressure released,add salt and ghee and mash it using mixer.Add hot water,if you need more watery consistency.
  • Serve little warm.

Notes

  • Select pumpkin that is deep orange in colour
  • Pumpkin should not be too ripe.
